Suppose you were handed a particularly hard math problem to do. In order to help you solve this problem you are given two resources. One of these resources is a mathematics professor and your other resource is a mentally disabled college student. Given that there are no limits to how many questions you can ask and you are allowed to ask both resources, a question that comes up would be whether or not you would ask the mentally disabled student. Instead of having a small chance of making a breakthrough we would change that chance to zero and any small chance is better than having no chance at all. So it would work mostly to our favor if we stopped isolating the mentally handicapped group from society. Throughout the film Cube, there are multiple instances and scenes that are used to represent and show that the mentally disabled are also able to play an important role in society. The examples used in the movie include the mentally disabled being able to contribute to society by doing things that the “normal” person would not do, being willing to try out things that are random that end up producing something beneficial, having the ability to reveal the true nature of humans, and by having special talents that could help them contribute to society. The way some people view the mentally disabled in our country is a very regressive way to think. Some think that the mentally disabled cannot provide any benefit to our society and that it is best to keep them somewhat isolated from “normal” people. This film tries to show the viewers all the benefits that could come from re-incorporating the mentally disabled back in our society and I think that it is very important that we take this measure to remove the negative
