How does the movie Idiocracy written in 2006 relate to today 2016 ten years later?

Well, in Idiocracy Joe Bowers played by Luke Wilson gets frozen in a military experiment. The experiment was only supposed to be for one year but instead he awakes 500 years in the future only to find out that America is controlled by a bunch of idiots. The people are beginning to starve because crops are dying, why? Because they’re watered with a sports drink called Brawndo (Gatorade) because it has electrolytes. The water that they do have are only in toilets. The people of this time thinks talking proper is considered being a homosexual, the hospital is called St God’s, the Starbucks offers sexual relief, and execution is by a monster truck in a arena.
