In previous decades fire departments were worried when the next fire, however firefighters in the current day need to think on ways on protect the community at a higher level of effectiveness. Moreover, even though this tactic was preventing families and firefighters from becoming harmed, it was not an acceptable tactic. Due to, many of the outcomes in the codes and standards that are present in today’s world are from harmful or deadly situations that have occurred in the past. From this, community risk reduction is the most effective way to prevent unsafe issues from happening. In addition, having a risk reduction program will inform the town on specific issues that present a harmful risk to the community that needs to be addressed. In fact, departments have a program in addition to risk reduction call fire prevention week. Fire departments should implement and modernize to have a larger impact on the prevention of emergencies and safer within the community. Enforcing a program such as risk reduction can limit a large percentage of the chances that an emergency situation from could grow and harm other citizens, or worse impact an enormous hazard that could be deadly. Without risk reduction there would be an uncontrollable amount of high risk emergencies that would be too risky to mitigate. On the other hand, a benefit of this program is being ready for an incident, especially one that is high risk to anyone is meaningful due to it is key that each firefighter will know or at least have an acceptable understanding of what they will do to stop the incident. Likewise, the impact of having a risk reduction program will lower the cost of insurance for the fire department especially, from hospital visits, doctor appointments, etc. It will also save lives, and prevent additional emergencies in result of the first incident that could have been prevented. Similarly, even the trend is still new to various departments; other departments could feel more organized with this type of planning with incidents. In regards to, having a more well developed strategy in their pre-incident plan of attack.
