People can get badly injured and in some cases die from king hits and this is within the party precinct of the Gold Coast. To hopefully stop this sort of behaviour the Labor government will plan to push out alcohol fuelled violence by a 1am lockout that will be introduced into the pubs and clubs on the Gold Coast. But there are advantages for these lock out laws to hopefully stop crime. But a disadvantage is that if we take off two hours during late night/ early morning that the Gold Coast would lose $3.4 billion from the night life sector and this could affect the appeal to international visitors (Houghton, J and Keen, R 2015). This also means there is no shots after midnight and the clubs and pubs will be closed after 3am. Any repeat offenders will be banned from all entertainment areas across the state. The Foundation for Alcohol Research and Education shows over 80% of Queenslanders supports the 3am closing for the clubs and pubs and over 60% of Queenslanders support the 1am lockout. After being kicked out from the clubs and pubs you can’t expect young people to not continue partying they will continue to party in areas where this no supervision or control so there will be no police to arrest them if they start assaulting or attacking other people (Remeikis, A 2015).
