When watching this video it was interesting the facts he presented on communication, listening is 60% and that we only retain 25% of a listening when we do communicate. It’s also interesting that our listening is also made up processing sound and distinct pattern such as the sound of our name or hearing a distinct sound pattern. Also hearing distinct noises for about 2 mins we will stop listening to. Listening to music as my study is one way to listen to a sound pattern or distinct sound is what I interrupted as one of the things he was speaking of in this video.
His story of one of the promises he made to his wife before they got married was he would listen to what she had to say every time she’d say something like it was something new. As

He spoke of 5 conscious ways we can do this every day or multiple times a day. One way is to be silent for 3 mins, two is the mixer, process of mean sounds do/or are you hearing, three is savoring the mundane sounds you hear, four it your listening positions which he broke down into three things active/ passive, reductive/ expansive, critical/empathetic and the five is an acronym called RASA which means Receive, Appreciate, Summarise, Ask. Live to listen was a saying he made which means listen conceptually in order to live fully. In this time of the world around us to understand and spirtuarly listening around us are also important now more than ever.
In conclusion, I feel I must agree with his statement of we need to teach our children in school to listen more effectively than we did have to this point I know from past experiences I wish at times I listened better than I do now. Sound or sounds are something we will never get away from. It’s part of our core existence as humane beings. Stop and listen better in the future is what not only myself needs to improve on but I felt we all must listen effectively in order to understand each other as the diverse individuals we all are. I definitely have learned to hear things better now for me
