Concentration Of An Object And Force Of Kinetic Friction Essay
Is there a relationship between the mass of an object and the force of static friction and force of kinetic friction of that object? If so, what type of relationship is there?
Friction is a type of force that is created when two surfaces move across one another. Static friction is friction between two or more solid objects that are not moving relative to one another. Kinetic friction is the amount of friction between two objects that are moving relative to each other. All of these types can be determined by the “FUN” equation (f = μn) if you know the coefficient of each type and the normal force.
Mass may influence friction by also influencing a dependent relationship towards friction and the normal force. This is because the coefficient of friction (μ) is a constant term in the “FUN” equation. In correlation with the dependent relationship, the other two variables must match each other in their changes. Normal force changes because it is influenced directly by mass and the acceleration due to gravity. This in turn has friction change in the same way as the normal force and mass change.
Throughout my life, there have been different situations with the force of friction that has influenced my opinion on this matter. At church, when we have to tear down the chairs in order to set up for dinners, I notice the force of friction acting upon them.
