In both, the “Four Freedoms” speech and the inaugural address, Roosevelt and Kennedy talk about freedom but they have a very different point of view or outlook on freedom and what is best for the country. “The happiness of generations of Americans may well depend upon how effective and how immediate we can make our aid felt” (Roosevelt 42). This quote states that if America is going to be happy in the future then it will depend on how effective and how we help other countries. If we do little to help them, then when we need help they will do little in return. Without help during times in need, it is difficult and no one is going to be happy. It easier to have help when it is needed. “Our support goes to those who struggle to gain those rights or keep them” (Roosevelt 66). We will help others in anyway we can because we are free and being free means we can help others to be free.
