Has the freedom of fear changed over time? Looking at two speeches from different time periods in history supply thought to consider judgment if freedom of fear has changed or not. The texts being analyzed are Roosevelt 's “Four Freedoms” speech and Obama 's “Welcome Speech to the UK Prime Minister Cameron”. Both speeches deal with similar things such as the future of Americans, helping other countries become democratic, and etc. It is presumed both Presidents not only wanted to help their own country but others that are or were becoming similar to the United States. Both Presidents said that they want to help other countries. An example would be when Roosevelt said “We Americans are vitally concerned in your defense of freedom. We are putting forth our energies, our resources, and our organizing powers to give you the strength to regain and maintain a free world...”. Most times (but not all …show more content…
They both wanted to help other countries. Primarily they wanted to help their own country, the United States of America. Obama was more specific on what country he wanted to help like the Middle East and North Africa. Roosevelt was not as specific by providing just an overall standpoint on things. They both wanted to help other countries that wanted freedom and democracy. This was to hopefully make the world a nicer place with less fear. A world without fear would be a good place as no one wants to live in fear of terrorists, lack of jobs, lack of money, lack of health care, or any of the many things that help the world and life improve. Presidents need to act more like Obama and Roosevelt so no one will live in fear of anything. No one wants their freedoms eliminated or to live in fear. Freedom of fear is a very good thing and adds to the prime of life. The world needs to respect differences and learn to live together - the world needs to learn to live with freedom of

This is not an uncommon belief because Trump uses presupposition in a similar way to show his unhappiness with the way America has been run: “But we are transferring power from Washington D.C. and giving back to you, the American People” (“The Inaugural Address, 2017). His statement presupposes that previously the power of America has not been in the hands of its citizens, but that, as president, he will work to return that power to the people. Their use of presupposition helps to show their audience the places in American government and structure that they think needs…

Freedom to Roosevelt was not about being the biggest and baddest country it is about being the country who cared the most and didn't want conflicts with others. He wanted to create a safe and friendly country that others like and will want to bond with. He tells us that without having a good repetition of having countries like us we can not afford to have freedom and do whatever we want it's just not safe enough, with having freedom comes big responsibility. Roosevelts makes sure in his speech to let the people of out country know we should feel bad for them that they don't get the same rights that we do, which was a great thing for him to say. To sum things up, both Roosevelt's “Four Freedoms” speech and Kennedy's inaugural address how America should be safe and how to redeem freedom, however Roosevelt's speech was about the want and need for freedom whereas Kennedy's speech is about keeping peace to earn freedom, both speeches did a very good job of explaining things and telling the people of America how they wanted peace to form in our country.…

Prerogative and religion can get very controversial because there is no way to tell who is right. All Americans have the right to religious freedom so the religious people are right, but the non-religious people are also right because we both have religious freedom. The last idea I mentioned is prerogative and cultural beliefs. The example I used involved President Barack Obama using his executive power to help African American citizens get a well-rounded education, I believe that helping people get an education will help the country grow more intellectually. Most of the ideas I used show how prerogative is not being used to benefit the country, but there are some cases where it is helping America grow stronger and more…

They were similar because Patrick Henry wanted the colonists to realize that they were King Georges slaves. While Kennedy wanted to unite people in the world. They both wanted to better the situations of citizens and help all problems that will come in the future. Patrick Henry said, “I hope that this will not be through as disrespectful”(83), trying to motivate the colonist to fight for their freedom together. Also, Kennedy stated, “Let both sides join in creating a new endeavor, not a new balance of power, but a new world of law”(6), telling them to unite with the world and also to explore together.…

Alan Blinder would not disagree with Locke, a representative government is essential but government itself has become to politicized and resulted in short term thinking and estrangement from politicians. Blinders main belief is that it would be most beneficial for the country for congress to allocate some of its technical policy making power to nonpolitical agencies to achieve long term success. Both men are arguing two valid but different points, enacting Blinders proposal into the foundational government articulated by Locke would create an effective long term government. Maintaining a representative government is essential to ensure the values, morals, and wishes of the American people. However, allocating technical policy making power such creating a tax code, health care policy, and trade provisions to a nongovernmental agency with presidentially appointed experts would translate into the…
