What is freedom? Some may say it's the ability to do whatever you want to do, but what does that really intitle? Many people think that freedom is our ability to choose how we navigate through life and overcome obstacles. Others believe that it is the ability to make your own choices in life, and neither of these thoughts are wrong. Freedom, by definition, “is the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint, and the absence of a despotic government” (Cambridge Dictionary p.1). In both Kennedy's Inaugural Address, and Roosevelt's Four Freedoms speech they both discussed the meaning and importance of freedom, human rights, and liberty. However, Roosevelt's speech focused on defending our freedoms where as Kennedy's speech concentrated more on coming together as a nation for peace and freedom for all.

Roosevelt also insisted that people in all nations of the world shared Americans entitlement to the four freedoms. He believed that the freedom of speech and expression along with the freedom of religion, fear and want should be given to every citizen of every country around the world. Roosevelt also attempted to prepare the american people for entry of WW2. He wanted neutrality, but Roosevelt also knew that peace could not be achieved by staying out of the war.
