Slavery played a big part in imperialism. The reason for the mass amount of slaves being traded and killed was because of the thought that the imperialists were stronger because “survival of the fittest” were in their heads the entire time as they were colonizing different countries. Slaves played a really big part in Imperialism because the Europeans took control of most of the countries of Africa in the year 1870. Since Africa was “not civilized” when the Europeans first discovered it, they decided to take over and take control of the people and the countries’ resources. The imperialists will also bring their culture and religion with them and therefore influence the people living in the countries to follow their religion and culture. Sometimes, imperialists will forcefully make people forget their religion and follow theirs. They would say that their religion is the best because they conquered them the country. If people were to refuse, there would be punishment and these punishments were death most of the time. 17,267,000 Africans died in the years 1451- 1870.
