In American education nowaday, Christopher Columbus is depicted to student as a hero of the world. However, all of his dark side was covered up by his shadow of noble acts in the history of America. In fact, Columbus is a cruel man did terrible atrocities to the innocent Native Americans, although he is praised for exploring America and beginning the Age of Exploration (“Christopher Columbus”). The damaging outcomes that followed were even greater. Columbus was said to have inflicted slavery to lessen his failure to find a new trade route, raped and killed people on the natives, wifully exterminated Indians by bringing awful diseases which bring death to millions, and over-exploited the New World environment. Christopher Columbus is known as one of the greatest explorers of the Age of Discovery who is credited for discovering America, although he never knew that (“Christopher Columbus”). Columbus date of birth is unclear but most of the information said that he was born on the 31st of October 1451 in Genoa, Italy (“Christopher Columbus”). His real name was Cristoforo Colombo but then he changed to Christopher Columbus which is in English so that he can easily use it. He was the oldest son of Domenico Colombo who was a wool-worker and small-scale merchant, and he also had two younger brothers, Bartholomew and Diego (“Christopher Columbus”).
