In this section or chapter, we learned about Christianity and the beliefs there in. In the same way as Judaism, the Christian faith is based on the idea of monotheism. Monotheism is the belief that there is only one God. In Christianity Christians believe the bible is breathed out by God, which means that the bible or the scriptures are inspired by God. (2 Timothy 3:16) Christianity and Judaism are very similar religions in that they believe in one God and a messiah. The difference here is that the Jew believes that the messiah has not come yet and the Christian believes that the Messiah has already come and gone but will one day come back. So, who is the Messiah? What role does The Messiah have in the Christian faith? And finally Why do we need a Messiah? These are the questions we have to answer to really understand the importance of the Messiah in Christianity.
Before we begin talking about the messiah we first have to determine who the Messiah is. Is the Messiah the same as the God? Who is the Messiah? As a Christian myself I believe in what the scriptures tell me which is the Jesus Christ is the messiah. The name “Christ” is equivalent to the word “Messiah” in the Greek. So the name Jesus Christ really means Jesus the Messiah. The word Messiah means “Anointed One”, the name given to the promised Deliverer who would someday come to the people of Israel as their great Savior and Redeemer, anointed as Prophet, Priest, and King by God Himself.
