It is very apparent that children are more overweight and obese in the present than in the past. Childhood obesity has doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years (Childhood obesity causes & consequences) Along with the physical change, there are many health risk that can be involved when a child is obese. Immediate health issues include the risk factors for cardiovascular disease, more likely to have pre diabetes, and are greater risk of having bone joint problems (Childhood obesity causes & consequences). Children are heavily dependent on their parents and guardians. So, it is the parents’ responsibility to insure that their child is a healthy weight by taking proper precautions. As well as encouraging a healthy lifestyle overall. There are different prevention methods and recommendation that are established for just an age group. Even though there are generic, basic ways of preventing obesity in children it is important for parents to know what could be done at different ages to improve the health of their child. And it all starts before the baby is even born.
