Breast-feed or bottle-feed, that is the question…amongst new mothers that is. It may seem simple but the decision to breast feed versus formula feed babies can be a difficult yet one of the most important decisions a mother can make. Even though there is nothing wrong with giving babies formula milk, breast-feeding should be the number one choice for mothers. Both choices have pros and cons and at the end of the day it’s the decision for the mother to decide what is best for her child.
Breast milk contains all the nutrients and antibodies a baby need for their growth development. Breast milk is naturally produced by mothers and is less expensive. Also mother’s milk is easily digested …show more content…
Some mothers do not feel comfortable enough to breastfeed in public. Breastfeeding can get really challenging at times for new mothers. A couple of common issues include: engorgement, sore nipples and even thrush or mastitis. A mother will need to have patience and perseverance, while some mothers find it as easy, it all depends on the personal circumstances. Moms may feel inadequate and may give up on breastfeeding, due to a lack of knowledge. For some mothers breastfeeding can become tiring. For instance some women are unable to produce milk. One of the advantages of bottle-feeding is that it allows fathers to spend more time caring for their baby. It allows fathers to feel more like an integral and needed part of their child’s life from the very beginning that helps the father-child relationship. Another one of the benefits of bottle-feeding is that the mother does not need to worry about breastfeeding in public. Formula milk digests slower than breast milk so it keeps a baby fuller for longer periods of time. Women who formula feed do not need to worry about what they eat or drink. It is easy to monitor the amount that a baby is drinking. It is also more flexible and has freedom for a mother to leave her baby with others. Formula feeding doesn’t interfere with lovemaking . Some formula drinks also contain more vitamin d than breast milk, which is essential for strong bones. Formula milk also contains fluoride that is important for healthy
