The topic of breastfeeding has long been an issue of controversy and political debate. Many people in our society endorse the natural, bonding, and feeding experience, while others refute it as a matter of indecent public display. In 2011 the former first lady Michelle Obama encouraged women to breastfeed due to the health related benefits that it offers, (Freidman, 2011). Meanwhile, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), reversed their initial decision of not allowing the cost of breastfeeding related items such as breast pumps to be considered as a medical deduction on taxes, (Freidman, 2011).
