Chief Joseph(hin-mah-too-yah-lat-kekt) was born march 3,1840 in Wallowa valley,Oregon. Chief Joseph was a Nez Perce Indian chief who faced with settlement by whites of tribal lands in Oregon and led his followers in a dramatic effort to escape to Canada .
Chief Joseph,known by his people as (hin-mah-too-yah-lat-kekt) (thunder coming up over the land from the water), was best known for his tribe into reservations.The nez perce were a peaceful nation spread from idaho to northern washington.

Among the Nez Perce a good respected is attributed to the deceased and every effort is extended to reinsure protection of chief Joseph' gave.On 1928,the descendants of some wallowa band and Joseph' descendants got together to take over some of his belongs and demanded protection on Chief Joseph gave.It was decided that it will be moved to the corner of wallowa lake. When his family had exhumed his body, they have discovered chief Joseph skull had been removed and gone missing. Some people suspected as much because of some rumored reports about it having been on display somewhere. To this day no one seems to know where it is or where who has it.Several family members remember a couple of names and persons that may or may have it but the mystery goes on who took chief Joseph skull
