John became a fisherman just like his father. His job was to catch fish for the family. He liked his job and decided that this will be what he wants to do when he gets older. At the end of the day, he will always pray to God. He and James were originally followers of John the Baptist.

When Jesus took his disciples to Gethsemane, he ordered his three core disciples to stand watch while he went off to pray. This is where John failed at his important duty. All three of them fell asleep, not once, but three times. They were not able to warn Jesus of that Judas Iscariot with the Temple Guard were coming to arrest him. When the disciples saw this, they all ran away and hid. John and Peter were the only two that hide, but were still able to follow Jesus.
After Jesus’ death, John was the first one to believe Jesus had truly been resurrected. After Jesus had ascended into heaven, John and Peter took a role in founding and guiding the church.
John became an author and wrote the Gospel of John, which is the fourth Gospel. His other writings include three Epistles. These are all located in the New Testament of the Bible. During his time in exile, he wrote the Book of Revelations.
John spent many years preaching in Palestine. Later he became a prisoner of Rome. There he was punished by being thrown into a pot of boiling oil. God protected him, and he was not
