By saying he wants Hassan to stop harassing him, we learn how much of a coward and wimp he truly is. Amir was prepared to ruin his only friendship with Hassan, to prove to himself that the rape didn’t happen. He hoped that Hassan would fight back for their friendship, which he didn’t. He wanted Hassan to still be at the door when he opened it, and when he wasn't he realized their friendship has truly faded away. Amir wanted a reason to blame Hassan for what had happened and to avoid feeling blameworthy. He did anything to get Hassan’s attention, and he even threw pomegranates in hope that he would fight back.
