CHI Saint Francis Medical Center is a general medical and surgical hospital in Grand Island, NE, with 190 beds. Saint Francis Medical Center, was established in 1887 and is located in Grand Island, Neb. Saint Francis provides a wide range of medical and clinical services. It provides multiple clinical services, such as cardiology, imaging, intensive and critical care, nutrition and dietary plans, pediatric, and surgical services. Some of its other services include electrocardiogram, echocardiology, cardiopulmonary, intravascular ultrasound, cancer treatment and respiratory care. Saint Francis offers treatments, for breast cancer, rehabilitation, wound care, drug and alcohol treatment, and diabetes treatment and care. It also provides services include home health, hospice care, human resources, laboratory services, maternity, oncology, outpatient rehabilitation services, and skilled care. Saint Francis offer laboratory services, radiology services including mammography, X-ray and imaging services. It additionally provides 24-hour medical care and emergency services to the patients. Saint Francis has floors that offer specialized care including ICU, PCU, Labor and delivery, med-surge, and inpatient rehab. Saint Francis is a level three trauma center. Know how they feel and what they understand about other cultures is an essential tool for ensuring that the patients are receiving the care they need and in what areas they staff lacks understanding. This tool can be used to provide effective training in the needed areas to improve the quality of culturally competent care. For the interviews I used the ASK cultural Competency Assessment Scale (short version) (Cheung & Leung, 2008, p. 75).
