In the world, there are five major world religions, Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, and Buddhism. In the past few classes, I have been exposed to and absorbed a tremendous amount of information on the religion of Buddhism. According to the dictionary, Buddhism is a religion of which originated in India, was founded by the Buddha Siddhartha Gautama, and teaches that life is full of suffering caused by desire and that the way to end this suffering is through enlightenment that enables one to halt the endless sequence of births and deaths to which one is otherwise subject. Buddhism is a way of finding peace within oneself. It is a religion that helps it’s believers find the happiness and contentment we humans seek. One thing I found out that was unique is that there are many ways to reach enlightenment, not just one. The religion has many iconic figures who are also known as Buddha 's. The most commonly referred to Buddha is Siddhartha Gautama. Siddhartha Gautama is a key figure in Buddhism simply because the religion is based on his life experiences. Legend has it, Siddhartha’s mother felt no pain when giving birth. It is said that Siddhartha was born fully awake. He could speak, and told his mother he had come to free all mankind from suffering. He could stand, and he walked a short distance in each of the four directions. Lotus blossoms rose in his footsteps. Personally, I find the story very interesting as I have never heard of a painless birth, or a baby that is…
