“Stay, Tabitha. I’ll keep you safe. We can launch the counter-movement from Blue Hills,” William pleaded.
“I have to keep moving,” Tabitha said.
“We need to go, now,” one of Tabitha’s men yelled. “We have a report of two gunships en route.”
“Don’t you want to see baby Edward before you go?” William asked, desperately searching for a way to keep Tabitha on the estate.
“I can’t,” Tabitha said. “Take care of him, William. Someday I will come for him, and you.”
Tabitha kissed William on the lips and ran off towards the helicopter. She and her men climbed into the helicopter. The helicopter lifted off the field and rocketed over the top of Sleeping Giant. A dozen men in black uniforms kneeled in the field separating the orchard from the farmhouse, taking dead aim at the farmhands. The Apache gunners aimed the chain guns towards the orchard. If a fight broke out, a maelstrom of 30 mm rounds from the Apache chain guns would shred the orchard and anyone hiding among the trees. “This is William Blake. Lower your weapons and come out,” William hollered towards the orchard. “That’s an order.” Farmhands began wandering out from between the rows of apple trees. The men on Marc’s assault team disarmed the farmhands and corralled them in an area next to the farmhouse. Marc used a radio clipped to his Kevlar vest and told the Apache pilots that everything was under control. The Apaches flew off over the top of Sleeping Giant. “There,” Marc said. “Now everyone is going to play nice.” William watched more men walk out of the orchard towards the farmhouse. All except one man kept his rifle pointed at the ground. William recognized the man who pointed his assault rifle at the men on Marc’s assault
