Flamestreak padded on the bank looking out over the water pondering life, she stopped and sat down hearing the crunch of the rocks and sand against her paws. It was a warm day and the sand felt warm against her freezing toes, it was a harsh leaf-bare and everyone was glad that new Leaf came at last. There was more prey and the flowers started to bloom, even the cat mint field was fresh and new; the kittens would play with their mothers in the field as the fathers would look on smiling and gladly guarding their loved ones. She wondered if she would ever have kits, but would she ever find a mate? A familiar scent mingled around her and she turned to see her sister, Silverheart. She looks like her brother Mossfoot who fell in love with Shadowclan cat and they only see him at Gatherings on border patrol. They both miss him dearly but they have to move on with life. Another cat who reminded her of Mossfoot was her best friend, Silverstrike. They have been best friends since kithood and they would always be best friends... maybe even more than friends. Her sister interrupted her thoughts,
"You should get back to hunting." She padded back to her patrol while Flamestreak trotted up to the

Fallenheart's body still remained in the middle of camp and his kin, Ambershell and Seedfoot, stayed next to him. The previous deputy had died from a terrible case of greencough and the clan was devastated that such a strong cat could die so weak.
"We all are very sorrowful from Fallenheart's death, but I must name the new deputy; Flamestreak, will you please come forward." Flamestreak was shocked and frozen in place, everyone stared at her and she could feel impatience and sadness burning into her pelt then someone whispered in her ear,
