Blade Runner Film Response
The confrontations with the two irrational beings provides similarity in the film, as shown when Deckard confronts the fugitive rebels and how Victor confronts the demon on the mountain. Both of these encounters are the climax of the novel, and are also the first meetings between the protagonists and rebel-figures. Without a doubt, these similar moments in the film and novel provide the reader with evidence of the rational and irrational humans.
The similar creation stories evoke the creation story of Adam and Eve in the Bible, as the advancement of technology is evident throughout the text and film. Although both …show more content…
The light or fire gives the monster in Frankenstein the “sensation of fire on his nerves,” (Frankenstein) which shows how light in Frankenstein is a symbol of hellish ideals. In Blade Runner, the use of light is used to show how advanced society is and how it functions.
While both the text of Frankenstein and the film Blade Runner utilize the use of light in the development of the central message in the novel and movie clip, another similar theme in his paranoia of both protagonists. Victor acts very paranoid in the wedding, as he tries to protect Elizabeth, who is “motionless” (Frankenstein) so the monster won’t revenge the death of his destroyed, laboratory- made mate. Deckard is paranoid that he will die when he is chasing down the fugitives who have abandoned government structure.
Deckard and Victor are the protagonists in both the film and text, but they have conflicting personalities that change the course of the both pieces of literature: written and visual. Victor embodies a character who is a rational being and who has an ability to recognize the corruption of technology and nature. Deckard represents a typical heroic figure, like Beowulf who is right with
