“other” (Tatum). There are seven categories of dominant “other” and seven subordinate “other”
respectively. Human is in both dominant and subordinate but it is usually the targeted identities
that hold out attention because it is the one they and others around them perceive as different.
The term “mythical norm” prefer to the power that resides inside society and the ones who stand
outside of that power recognize what made them into an outsider and we focus on it to be the
primary cause of all oppression. They end up stop taking notice of the things they themselves do
to partake in the oppression of others.
As such, everyone should remind themselves and others that they should not just take
notice of what make them different but also own privilege because it is a good way to generate
empathy for other people who may also face the same problems: being a part of the subordinate
group while also unaware of the rights sometimes are taken for granted.
The relationship between these two can also affect the perception of identity
