At one point they can be playing with a toy and then they would stop what they’re doing and begin to spin. They would just spin in circles. They don’t like to do anything spontaneous; they would prefer to watch things move or fall on the floor or line things up in patterns (“Autism- Part I”). They line things up because it give them a sense of control and if that pattern is messed up in anyway, they throw a temper tantrum. Autistic people don’t understand that other people have emotions. So if their mother was crying for some reason, they wouldn’t be able to sympathize with them, for example. Autistic people are incapable having conversation or keeping secrets because they don’t understand others have feelings too. Most Autistic people are retarded, but there are exceptional ones. “A few, who may or may not be retarded, have unusual talents -- an exceptional rote memory, an unusual capacity for mental calculation, precocious (but usually limited) musical or artistic gifts, or the ability to name the day of the week for any calendar date. These extraordinary persons are known as savants” (“Autism- Part I”). This is also known as High Functioning Autism because they are very smart. They can be very talented people. They may know more then they let on. They may watch their parents do something and they can copy their same moves or at least …show more content…
They have many similarities, such as limited social activity, but they have higher intelligence and they don’t have as much problems with learning speech. Both Autism and Asperger’s do things repetitively, in what they do and when they speak as well. For example, they would do the same game every day or take the same route to class or wear the same thing every day. Unlike Autism, people with Asperger’s can tell when something is wrong and they may become depressed especially during their adolescents and other people may think they’re “weird” (“Autism- Part I”). Clumsiness and motor impairment is very common in both of these disorders. In the article “Early Warning Signs of Autism: We can all Watch for them”, it shows that Autistic children are often confused with learning impaired, hearing impaired, and people who have mental retardation because their signs overlap. They did a study that distinguished them though, and the study resulted that Autistic children are very independent and they didn’t interact with the other children at all. This study enhances the idea that watching children at play is very important. But this study showed that because their signs overlapped, autism must have the symptoms of the other
