Muslim communities are becoming more and more geographically diverse. This meaning that there are many practicing Muslims located in a wide range of countries. One of which is Australia. Australia is a secular country, meaning that the government of this particular nation has decided to separate the Church and State, and thus preventing a relationship between the two. This has resulted in the drawn conclusion being that Islamic adherents can to a high extent practice their faith in the secular country of Australia. The three main reasons for this conclusion are, section 116 of the Australian Constitution, which is a statement that enforces the separation of the Church and Government. Secondly, due to section 116 Muslims can freely practice, thus they can adhere to the necessity of the five pillars. Finally, the classification of Australia as an Abode of Islam, Peace or Covenant shows that Muslims can feel safe to practice and follow their beliefs. Overall Australia does not restrict any religious adherents from practicing their faith.

Australian Laws and Rules are based around its Constitution. This is the case with section 116 of this very constitution which states, ‘The commonwealth shall not make any law for establishing any religion, or for imposing any religious observance, or for prohibiting the free exercise of any religion, and no religious tests shall be required as a qualification for any office or public trust under the Commonwealth.’ This indicates that, as a…
