The constitution in the 1700’s wasn't structured very well, so many documents were created and meetings took place to help solve the conflict that had been created. The Articles of confederation were created first between the states to set rules that were suppose to help stop the war that was going on between the states. Unfortunately,it didn't really work out. Later on this lead to another meeting called the constitutional convention. This convention did help the states. With the article of confederation and constitutional convention, they helped our country grow as a whole and maintain structure.
The Articles of Confederation were 13 articles that were created to structure and fix the conflict between the states. These articles were put into action by John Dickinson in the year 1776. He started to draft out the articles in hopes that they would make a change in some way. Many of the drafts sketched didn't work out well but, many of them were very good and might change the conflict between the states. The Second Continental congress was held in Philadelphia in the year 1776 to spread the word of these articles that were created to create structure in the states. Some farmers wanted the New Jersey plan which stated that every state should be represented equally and the power to regulate trade and tax should be limited.(Miss.crouse powerpoint). The compromises that needed to be made in the constitution, were the arguments between all the states. Also, the congresses representation. These were two things that needed to be modified. Another thing that needed to be modified was the idea that slaves are or are not to be counted as population. This resulted in the three-fifths compromise which stated that every three slave would be counted as one
