Depression has not only affected my life, but has also attempted to end it. Depression is a condition that should not be taken lightly. Goldberg defines depression as, “feelings of intense sadness including feeling helpless, hopeless, and worthless. These feelings may last for many days to weeks and keep people from functioning normally” (Goldberg 1). People throughout the world are diagnosed with depression, so there needs to be a proper and effective solution for it. There are several ways to treat depression, but antidepressants are crucial to the treatment process. I have uncovered that antidepressants are shown to work through my own personal life. People who are diagnosed with depression should included antidepressants into their treatment process because they quickly relieve symptoms without any hassle, reliably produce relief as expected, and are easily adjustable to suit the needs of every individual.
Antidepressants are fast and easy. I was diagnosed with depression four years ago. I went the first two years without taking medications and those first two years were dreadful. I was skeptical of taking antidepressants at first, but once I took them, they worked right away. Norman says, “For a more rapid onset of action, antidepressants is claimed to be the best way to go” (Norman 509).
