Because each poem is used for two different age groups I think the setting could be taken anywhere. In the poem Barbie Doll by Marge Piercy I could see the poem may be taking place in a school because of this line, “Then in the magic of puberty, a classmate said:You have a great big nose and fat legs”(Piercy). In the poem Marks by Linda Pastan when I read it all I can think about is that the poem’s setting is out of a cookie cutter neighborhood with a cookie cutter house.Marks is setting is just trying to keep supporting your family and to keep your head above water. The last sentence is what I like the most about Mark’s, “Wait 'til they learn I 'm dropping out”(Pastan). This line represents putting you all into being a wife and a mother and that not always being enough, being tired she has finally decided to give up and “drop
