The Killer Angels are historical fictional novels written by Michael Shaara based on the battle of the Gettysburg during the American civil war. The battle of Gettysburg was the bloodiest battle in the American civil war, and it resulted in the death of over 50,000 men over a period of three days. The battle of Gettysburg has been hailed by historians as the turning point of the America’s civil war that culminated in the victory of the Union Army. Shaara developed the story in the novel from the letters, journal entries, and memoirs written by the soldiers who fought the battle. One unique feature of the novel is the use of real-life characters who took part in the war including General James Longstreet, General Robert Lee, and General Chamberlain.…
“Out of Eden” is the first episode which starts off the Guns, Germs, and Steel documentary. This episode kicks off in a country called Papua New Guinea due to the major impact that it had toward Jared Diamond’s findings. In New Guinea, Jared Diamond became inspired to understand why some societies are not as advanced as others. This question has never really entered my mind until I watched this documentary and learned more about Jared’s well thought out theories. In this episode, hunter-gathering, farming, and animal domestication are all examined in order to fully grasp the advancement of cultures.…
According to the article, “The worst mistake in the History of humans of the Human Race”, by Jared Diamond, he stated that agriculture was the a catastrophe. But according to the article,”Excerpted from Back of History”, by William Howells, he stated that agriculture was one of greatest discoveries Jared Diamond believes that agriculture was a mistake for mankind because “Agriculture came the gross social and sexual inequalities the disease and the despotism, that cursed our existence.” He claims that with the discovery of agriculture bad things started happening to mankind. Jared Diamond asked “Why did almost all our hunters gatherer ancestors adopt agriculture?”, answered “ They adopted it because agriculture is an efficient way to gather…

These animals died out about 8,000 years ago due to climate change and overhunting. Humans adapted to that problem by focusing on the mid-sized animals and gathering foods. As resources dwindled 2,600 years ago, people started focus on other animals. Because of the diversity of centered at Zion, the food sources differentiated over the next 1,500 years into a farming tradition archeologists call Virgin Anasazi. Zion’s geology provided these people and the later pioneer farmers with a combination that is rarely seen in a desert.…

These animals gave great benefits to a civilization by bringing in milk, wool, meat, and also helped plant by pulling a plough in a field. While in Papua New Guinea the only domesticated animal was a pig. A pig only gives you meat, and doesn't help out around a farm and doesn't gives you milk or fur. One last reason why the Middle Eastern people had more cargo is because they were geographically blessed. When the ice age hit a while back, temperatures began to drop and the climate became much more dry.…
John Steinbeck's East of Eden reflects the theme of a person’s inner battle between “morality and immorality”. One of the important characters in the novel, Lee, a Chinese-American servant for Adam Trask and his family is considered one of the key remarkable characters in American Literature. Although just having the job title of “servant”, Lee does more than is expected of him and becomes more of a superior assistant to the Trask Family until the utmost end. In the novel, Lee, a very philosophical person, often introduces themes for the novel including the Hebrew word, “timshel”, which means “Thou mayest”. Consequently, he is depicted as being trapped by racial expectations from others and having to contain his own emotions as he can be seen…

There is no smoking gun that connects agriculture specifically to the problems Diamond outlines. If one looks at the evolution of human biology over many centuries, overall human health has improved dramatically. The only reason why the standard of health might have dipped with the adoption of agriculture was that it was a change that the human body was not used to, but we have balanced out over time to where today, we enjoy an overall higher standard of living than hunter-gatherers. It is clear that Diamond wants to shift away from producing and pivot back to foraging, but this…

The next important passage is when Pi states "" It's the plain truth: without Richard Parker, I wouldn't be alive today to tell you my story. "(pg 164). Pi realizes how important Richard Parker motivates him to stay alive on the lifeboat. Without Richard Parker Pi realizes that he would be left all alone, since he was with Richard he was able to use his survival instincts and presented him with a task to work with. The quote is stating how Pi would have given up if it was not for Richard…
Logical solutions may often lead to dire consequences. In “Book IX” of Paradise Lost, Milton describes Eve as logical and sinful through his dark descriptions; nonetheless, her obliviousness and naivety are constantly referenced even after eating the apple. Knowledge and logic can most often guide people towards danger and harm. Eve’s sin, while fully understood with knowledge, is first depicted when she eats the fruit. Milton expresses Eve’s sin through her eating the apple extremely gluttonously and lustfully: “greedily” and “without restraint.”…

However, the Neanderthals that lived in a warm climate like in Africa were very well fed. They became well fed to the supply of cows grazing in to meadow and the horses running wild in the meadows as well. These animals were the most hunted, or once in a while a bison would be walking to go to the watering hole for a drink, and would be hunted to be eaten by the Neanderthals. Animals nearby to the Neanderthals provided clothing to the early humans.…
