We all live in the world that is full of possibilities and every day we make a choice to
change our life, to make it better. People strive for happiness and are ready to do everything
to achieve it. Everybody wants to fit in and to be accepted in the society, but the most
important is to become a human in all its manifestations. Sometimes it turns out to be
difficult to understand what it means to live fully human, and a person starts searching for the
best way, option or tradition to follow.

Many pre-modern traditions can be applied to our modern world. It sounds
strange because the principles and values we have today are entirely different from those in
the pre-modern world. Still, the human nature is the same, and all people exist to have some
functions and to find their path in life. That is why the traditions for becoming an ideal person
are used today, and we consider them to be a real guidance for understanding ourselves.

The point is to differentiate human from animals or a God since everybody has to
know their place. Being a fully human is something about humanity, caring not only about
yourself but others, struggling for the common purpose and common needs. One more point
is self-identification and finding your destiny. People will never become fully human without
a real understanding of their value, that they are precious and all of them are born for a
particular purpose. When everybody realizes he or she is important, it becomes easier to find

We are not able to live fully without a social life, it is one of the
vital parts that actually makes us people. Mencius as Confucius was sure that people can not
live without others, but Mencius claimed about a human who lived in a harmony with others.
To be precise, everybody who wants to understand his or her nature must pursue healthy
relationships with those who live next. We treat our parents with respect, we show our love to
our sons and daughters, we live in a harmony with our families, the same should be with
everybody in a community. Mencius believed that there existed two “self” in people’s nature:
one is lesser and another one is stronger. He claimed that lesser “self” is connected with more
material things such as food for example but the mental aspect plays a crucial role in both
