Alexandre Petion processed a trait that fueled his position to be a great leader. It attracted many people to be inspired by his never ending fight to being democracy back to Haiti. Like many leaders Petion clashed with other political ideas. Like Henry Christophe who wanted absolute power. And because of it, Christophe believe in order to become a leader he must first established a state of his own. Under his leadership he rarely imposes any type of change. He didn’t expect anything from the people but still manage to keep the peace. His economy strategy was simple: people would rule themselves. Petion focus mainly on the solider and supporter who he believes deserve better treatment than others. He somehow divided the wealthy who were flourishing in the coffee trade then on the poor who couldn’t even afford to buy land. This system not only hurt the country agriculture but affected export and revenue for the country.
