A man who is know for many of his famous quotes is the same man who broke the record of having the most audience on tv, the man who changed many lives with having 130 million people watching his mini series of how his ancestor suffered during slavery, the persecution many innocent people were put through. Before being known, Haley went through college and studied for a couple of years to then go on and join the U.S Coast Guard, from that he starts his journey, which he never thought he would even go through with. During his Coast Guard employment Haley starts taking an interest in writing, becoming a better writer day after day. He slowly gets noticed by a Playboy he writes, but you can only have so many. Trying to come up with an idea to start his next masterpiece Haley asks his grandmother about his past and what she remembered while growing up, that's when he learned about many oral stories that have been passed down to his grandmother from past relatives and ancestors. From that, Haley developed a slight understanding of what it was like to survive what his very great grandfather was put through, and witnessed. Too many suffered through beatings, forced to watch a killing, and the dreadful living standards given to them. Haley incorporates it all while presenting the good, Haley states, “In my writing, as much as I could, I tried to find the good, and praise it”, as much as Haley wanted to show people what happened to his very great grandfather he wanted to bring out the good in every situation,and He does this by presenting the love his very great grandfather had for his wife and kids and even the other people who were enslaved right along with him. Even tho Kunta Kinte (Haleys very great grandfather) was put through misery by being ripped away from his family and friends from Africa, and dragged to America just to be forced to work for the rest of his life Kunta made the most of it and learned how to get by and survive in the situation he was put in. To then meet a young lady who became his future wife, to then having a daughter with her. He got a family when pulled away from his one before.
