The revamping of the Egyptian military during the New Kingdom allowed them to compete with powerful nations who were threats. Though Egypt fought with traditional weapons and combat units, their quick mobilization changed the tide of Hyskos conquest and while these traditional Egyptian forces defeated the Hyksos, two new weapons traceable to Hyksos influence came about; the chariot and composite bow made an appearance for the first time within the Egyptian Army, and the Egyptians would take these weapons to a whole other level as they gained power during the New Kingdom. Thus, their growing in power lead to a string of new advancements in military and warfare. A new form of training soldiers that was developed, was a more organized and intense training, including archery practice and instruction on the proper handling of weapons and use of the chariots. Along with chariots, the much deadlier composite bow was increasingly adopted. The mastering of the chariots; chariots brought a whole new advantage during this time, providing attacks at long range accompanied with speed. The Egyptians favored the use of their chariots to keep a distance from their enemy, while firing volleys of arrows at them. The Egyptians developed a more agile and much lighter chariots, which carried two men, a driver, and an assault soldier, who was equipped with a composite bow and bronze-tipped arrows, as well as, javelins for the use of close range
