For 16 years, Samori Toure, led West Africa in a resistance movement against the French rule. Some Africans located in a small village tried resisting the German officers demands that they have t0 grow cotton. There then was a myth stating that there was a "magic water" called maji-maji that was sprinkled on the German bullets and turned the bullets to water. The uprising was known as Maji Maji rebellion, in this rebellion there was more than 20 different ethnic groups that wanted to fight for there freedom. The soldiers believed that the war was ordained by God, they also believed that their ancestors would return from the dead and help them in the battle. After the German's were defeated by the Africans they made some changes trying to make imperialism more acceptable to the Africans. The reason that the Africans had so many unsuccessful resistances was because they didn't have access to the firearms like Europe did. The Africans usually fought with spears or their ablity to sneak
