John Greenleaf Whittier was born in Haverhill,MA in December of 1807.He became interested in politics, but after he lost a congressional election he had one bad nervous breakdown.Whittier came back with Garrison, and the passionate abolitionist began to encourage the young Quaker to join his cause.
