I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina. I earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in History, a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in Social Studies, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Curriculum and Instruction. I have twenty years of relevant experience in the education field; having taught in public, private, alternative, and post-secondary educational settings. I hold a South Carolina license in both middle level and high school level social studies. I am endorsed by the South Carolina Department of Education with certification in gifted and talented education. I hold certification as an educator evaluator in the Assisting, Developing, and Evaluating Professional Teachers (ADEPT) model. I am also certified as a South Carolina College Board of Examiner (BOE) via National Council of Accreditation for Teacher Education (NCATE).

As partial fulfillment of the requirement for the degree of Doctor of Education, under the advisement of Dr. Lorin W. Anderson of the University of South Carolina, I submitted a dissertation titled, “Greenville Technical Charter High School’s Minority Male Students: Heroes Aspiring to Reach the Top.” The case study focused on the academic experiences of minority male students enrolled in a charter high school in Greenville, South Carolina.
