A Christmas Carol Essay There will always be stories that are microcosm, which are written in order to help society or the community realize that there is a problem at hand that needs to be resolved. Charles Dickens, who wrote A Christmas Carol, wrote about the real meaning of Christmas and what we should be in our mind during this period of time. He was able to bring up the problem that was happening around him and helped many realize it was time for a change and time to fix this problem. Charles Dickens who was born on February 7 1812 had many works. Unfortunately many didn’t sell but the one that made him know to the world was A Christmas Story. When Charles Dickens first released the novella A Christmas Carol it was during the Victorian era in Britain. At this time there was a huge gap between the rich and the poor, which caused an even more catastrophic gap in the economy. There wasn’t any middle class just the people who were wealthy and those who lived in poverty. Many people were not able to pay taxes which lead to the government in sending families to jail and only leaving on family member, usually the father, to be out of jail to work in order to pay off their debts. Charles Dickens wrote the novella in order to bring social and religious problems into the light. The social problem that he was regarding to was for the rich to distribute their wealth in order to lift the economy so there would not be such a huge gap between the wealthy and poor so they can thrive…
