Puerto Rico Reflective Narrative

A challenging event for me was moving from Puerto Rico to Philadelphia then again to Jersey. I was about thirteen to fourteen when my mother told me that we were moving from our little home on Puerto Rico. I was shocked when she told me about the moving. Everything I knew and loved overseas, the befriended people, the family, and the wonderful food. All staying there, while I moved away from all of it. But at the same time I was feeling relieved, because Puerto Rico, the area we used to live in was the deadliest place on the island. The crime was constant, getting a job was difficult and if hired the pay was too low for so much hard work. My family was struggling and enough was enough. With many prayers, scarifies, and hard work my family was able to reach our goal; own our dream house. My family had seen at least 28 house until choosing the best and biggest one that was offered to use, and we called it “pollito” which means little chick because it was yellow. Once the 28th of September arrived the moving process began once more, packing everything worth four years took longer than expected. Throughout the moving my dad and brothers built my sisters room in the basement, now she has her own small apartment to live with her fiancé. My siblings and I finally have our own separated rooms; it was odd at first since we had spent all our lives sharing the same rooms. We have our geek dream fulfilled, which is having a game room that contains all old and new video game consoles. My parents have their dream backyard with in ground pool, huge space for barbecues’ and gardening. My new home has a guest room for my grandparents or anyone that wants to come and stay for the holidays. Anyone could technically say we started from the bottom, and now we are
