Personal Narrative: My Move To The United States From Iran

Decent Essays
If I had been asked a couple months ago about the most challenging obstacle I have overcome, I would have said my move to the United States from Iran four years ago. The cultural shock, the language barrier, and the financial problems put a lot of stress on me. I dealt with anxiety ever since I moved and lost my way couple of times. I started working when I was 17 because I saw my father struggling to provide for our family. I thought I was a strong and independent woman that had everything figured out. I used to go to sleep thinking that the image in my head of my future was finally complete. However, when I lost my dad on October 16, 2016 my life was forever changed. I see world in a different way as if someone has given a new set of eyes.

My coming to america Immigration to a new country is always a difficult decision, and whoever experienced it understands what kind of sacrifices people go through. When I left Russia at 18, I thought I was going to be in paradise. I thought I was going to live the American dream like I saw in Hollywood movies.
