Every work place has a code of ethics, especially in the medical field. Code of ethics is a standard set of rules or laws that are to be applied to every employer and its employees. They are principles that govern or portray the behavior and conduct of everyone. Behind the laws stand morals, personal goals and team goals, work values, personal responsibilities, and ethical work obligations. Ethics are guidelines that help you make the decision from what is wrong to right. By having a code of ethics, one can move beyond personal values and goals and they can go the extra mile. 7. Represent the profession to the public in a positive manner. Whenever you are out in public and you are in uniform, remember that you reflect all medical professionals and your work place. Always act in a professional matter and promote the medical profession to the public.
8. Perform honorably health information management association responsibilities, either appointed or elected, and preserve the confidentiality of any privileged information made known in any official capacity. Be sure when assigned a duty or responsibilities perform all tasks and duties 100% the way it is appointed. If you are unable to finish or perform the assigned task be sure to inform your superior and meet all deadlines assigned.
9. State truthfully and accurately one’s credentials, professional education, and experiences. If you are called a nurse, politely correct them and explain what your credentials are.
