Anatomy

Study of structure & shape of the body and its parts and their reloships to one another.


Gross anatomy- easily observeable, what u can see. Microscopic anatomy- only see thru microscope eg cells, tissue.

Physiology

The study of the body and how its parts work and function. Many subdivisions, eg neurophysiology.


Cellular physiology- how cells work.

Homeostasis

Describes the bodys ability to maintain a relatively stable internal environment even though the external environment constantly changes. This fine state of balance in the body is brought about by virtually all body systems.

Epithelial Tissue

Cells are organised to form a covering/lining and glands. Are for protection, absorbtion, secretion, filtration.

Connective Tissue

Cells organise to provide protection, support, and holding together.

Nervous Tissue

Conducts electrical signals.

Muscle Tissue

Specialised to contract and shorten.

Molecule

Is a formation of atoms. E.g water & oxygen combine to make a water molecule.
