Why is blood a connective tissue...?

Blood is considered to be a type of connective tissue. Even though it has a different function in comparison to other connective tissues it does have an extracellular matrix. The matrix is the plasma and erythrocytes, leukocytes and platelets are suspended in the plasma.

Blood is considered a connective tissue for two basic reasons: (1) embryologically, it has the same origin (mesodermal) as do the other connective tissue types and (2) blood connects the body systems together bringing the needed oxygen, nutrients, hormones and other signaling molecules, and removing the wastes.

Extra cellular matrix?

In biology, the extracellular matrix (ECM) is a collection of extracellular molecules secreted by cells that provides structural and biochemical support to the surrounding cells.

Erythrocyte?

red blood cell, which (in humans) is typically a biconcave disc without a nucleus. Erythrocytes contain the pigment haemoglobin, which imparts the red colour to blood, and transport oxygen and carbon dioxide to and from the tissues.

Extracellular?

situated or taking place outside a cell or cells.

Leukocytes?

a colourless cell which circulates in the blood and body fluids and is involved in counteracting foreign substances and disease; a white (blood) cell. There are several types, all amoeboid cells with a nucleus, including lymphocytes, granulocytes, and monocytes.

Lymphocyte?

a form of small leucocyte (white blood cell) with a single round nucleus, occurring especially in the lymphatic system.

Cytoplasm?

Cytoplasm is a thick solution that fills each cell and is enclosed by the cell membrane. It is mainly composed of water, salts, and proteins. In eukaryotic cells, the cytoplasmincludes all of the material inside the cell and outside of the nucleus.

What is the major body cavity that contains the heart?

The thoracic cavity contains the lungs and the heart

Why is simple squamous epithelium suitable for lining the air sacs in the lungs?

Simple squamous epithelium refers to a single layer of thin, flat cells that line body surfaces. These cells provide a thin membrane that allows for the passage of small molecules into the body, which occurs for example when air diffuses in the lungs

Which organelle is important in detoxification and lipid synthesis?

The proteins made by the rough endoplasmic reticulum are for use outside of the cell. Functions of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum include synthesis of carbohydrates, lipids, and steroid hormones; detoxification of medications and poisons; and storage of calcium ions.

Which organ system provides support, protection of soft tissue, mineral storage and blood formation?

Skeletal

Which organ system transports nutrients, metabolic wastes, gases, and defense cells?

Cardiovascular

What is the Plasma membrane combosed of?

Phospholipid bilayer with embedded proteins.

prokaryote?

prokaryote is a simple, single- celled organism that lacks a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles.
