- sensory loss- ulnar side of arm, forearm, and hand


- motor loss


- wrist flexion and extension

ulnar nerve neuropathy

etiology- falling on elbow


- sensory loss- posterior to medial epicondyle- ulnar distribution to hand and fingers


- results in claw hand when patient attempts to fully extend all joints of hand


- hypothenar compartment atrophy and area of DABS will atrophy

Guyon's Canal neuroapthy

- between pisiform and hamate


- etiology- laceration of wrist


- sensory loss- ulnar distribution of fingers


- claw hand. more claw hand in wrist injury than elbow injury

radial neuropathy

- site of injury- radial groove of humerus


- etiology- crushing injury i.e. crutch palsy, saturday night palsy


- sensory loss in posterior forearm, and maybe posterior arm. radial side of dorsum of hand


- WRIST DROP


- possibly atrophy in posterior compartment of arm. def atrophy in posterior forearm


 

carpal tunnel syndrome

- site of injury- carpal tunnel


- thumb loses opposition and tone is held more in reposition


- profound atrophy- in thenar compartment


 

axillary neuropathy

- surgical neck of humerus


- etiology- fracture at surgical neck, GH dislocation, anterior shoulder dislocation


- sensory loss at sargent stripes


- motor loss- deltoid, teres minor


- NO hallmark posture


- deltoid atrophy


 

long thoracic nerve neuropathy

- site of injury- medial wall of axilla


- etiology- trauma


- sensory loss- none


- motor loss- serratus anterior


- hallmark posture- winged scapula

suprascapular nerve neuropathy

site of injury- entrapment @ suprascapular notch beneath transverse ligament


- suprascapular and infrascapular fossa; prominence of scapular spine
