What held Fuedlism together?
Everyone depended upon everyone else for survival.
Where did the Black Death start?
Italy, it came across the silk road, it ultimatel started in Sicly, Italy (brought from Mongolia)
What did people believe about the Black Death?
It was a punishment from God for their sins
What was the "scientific" name for the Black Death?
Bubonic and Pneumonic plague.
What is the difference between a serf and a peasant?
Peasants were people who did not have to work for the lord, but had to work on the land making goods for protection. Serfs followed what they were told and worked for the lord.
What was the difference between the Feudalism and Manorialism?
Feudalism consisted of one King who ruled over everything, normaly from a castle. Manorialism was where a lord ruled over serfs from a manor, he ruled nothing else.
Why did serfs have to pay taxes to the lord?
They had to pay taxes for the service they recieved. For example, some of the crops belonged to them and some to the lord. This was one way of paying their crop tax.
How was the Black Death spread?
touching/physical contact and people would flee and take the plague with them
Why was the Medeival period also called the "Dark Ages"?
1. Because castles were dark, but also...
2. Because little history was recorded during this times, as reading and writing was a skill few had, thus, we are "left in the dark"
What did the manorial system provide in the time of great violence?
It provided stability and a peaceful way of life in the time of great violence.
Why did serfs do everything their parish priest told them to do?
They wanted to go to heaven.
What was the main thing that held back the medical world during these times?
The all-powerful church wouldn't allow science or disections, so nobody knew what was happening in the body or what they were curing.
What feudal obligations did the common people have to the owner of the manor?
If the common people did not have the protection of the lord, they would die of war or famine.
What was a problem with their "hospitals"?
They were ran by monks and nuns and were more like hotels, also because of no prior medical knowledge, diaseses spread through these "hospitals" like a wildfire.

Without the common people, the land would be useless to the lord.
How did the Black Death affect the life in Europe?
they believed less in god and began to research in medicineand new ideas
the feudal hierarchy collapsed and the people that survived became rich
What is propagonda, and how did the church use it to their advantage?
Propagonda is the control of people through fear and emotions. The church used heaven and hell as propagonda to keep people doing what they wanted.
