What is the purpose of the NCO Guide? |
To give a quick reference for information critical for NCOs to successfully lead, train, develop, and care for Soldiers. |

Senior advisor to the company commander. Responsible for maintaing and enforcing standards, ensuring training objectives are met, developing soldiers and ensuring their welfare. |

Serves as Platoon Sergeant, NCOIC, member of the staff at a battalion or brigade level. Responsible development of platoon leader and the health, welfare, training, and development of their soldiers. First level of NCO with input into METL and train platoon as a whole. |

What is the role of the Staff Sergeant? |
Lead squads and sections and is a critical link in the NCO support channel. Live and work with the soldiers everyday and are responsible for their safety. Enforces grooming standards and makes sure Soldiers understand how to maintain accountability for themselves and their equipment. Develops and trains soldiers in MOS skills and unit mission. |

Leads teams as part of a squad. Responsible for the care and safety of soldiers they live and work with everyday. Take care of counseling and training soldiers. They handle issues that develop during home station operations. |
