Working verb + subject = Clause or independent Sentence. True or false?

True. Example: She has applied for the job. She is subject, applied is the working verb.

A sentence can be made of independent and dependent clauses and also modifiers.

True. Example: Although she didn't have much work experience, she was offered the job.

The first part is a fragment on its own because it doesn't have an independent clause.

Every correct sentence at least has one independent clause. True or false.

True.

A dependent clause also consists of a verb but it can't stand on its own, it will be always with another independent clause otherwise it will be a fragment.

True. 'Although she didn't have work experience' is a fragment.

Modifier provides additional information in a sentence. True or false.

True. Adjectives are types of modifiers. Example: she's a happy child. Happy is a modifier.

Some modifiers are called non essential modifiers. If you remove them, the meaning of sentence or the core of the sentence still makes sense. True or false.

True. Example: the large dog, which has black fur, is a labrador. 'which has black fur' if removed doesn't make the sentence illogical. So it's non essential modifier.

Some modifiers are essential for the meaning or logic of the sentence. They are called essential modifiers.

Example: the job she started last week is much harder than her previous job.

'the job she started last week' is essential modifier because it's explaining the comparison. Without it, the meaning isn't clear.

What is Sentence Core?

Sentence core is an independent clause along with an essential modifier together - that is the bare minimum required for a coherent sentence is sentence core.

Without these, the core isn't there. Non essential modifiers are stripped out of the sentence core.

Coordinating Conjunctions join two independent clauses. True or false.

True. Most common are FANBOYS: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so.

Conjunctions (simple ones) only join two parts of a sentence. Could be independent or not.

Would never appears with If

True.
