When AC is on the final approach course, or immediately before the turn to final approach course, issue the following;

1) vector to intercept final approach course (if required)


2) the distance from final apch fix, final apch course or threshold


3) approach clearance


4) instructions to change to tower or term (if required)

Vector to intercept the final apch crse at angle 30 deg or less, and one of following distances

1) 2 mile or more from point at which final decent will begin


2) 1 mile, provided the AC will intercept glide path at 3000 feet AGL or higher


3) any distance, but not closer to the rwy than the FAF, if requested by pilot

Vector to intercept final approach crse at angle 30 deg or less, following distance

Any distance, but not closer than FAF provided


1) ceiling min 3000 AGL, ground vis 3 miles or more


2) no known or suspected wind shear conditions exist


3) AC has received prior notification of vectoring procedure

When vectored away from cleared route, pilots may be unable to determine their AC position. In this case, controller is responsible for;

1) Assigning altitudes that ensure obstacle and terrain clearance


2) correcting for cold temp if using 100NM safe alt outside MVA
