State whether or not these are soluble or insoluble

Common salts of sodium potassium and ammonium nitrate

common chloride

common sulphate

common carbonates and hydroxides

Soluble

soluble

soluble except sodium chloride and lead chloride

soluble except lead barium and calcium sulphate

insoluble except for sodium potassium and ammonium

How to make insoluble salts precipitate reactions

Add one spatula of lead nitrate test tube and water to dissolve it make sure it’s all dissolved

do the same with one spatula of sodium chloride

tip the two solutions into smaller bigger

give good stir to make sure it’s all mixed

lead chloride should precipitate out

filter out the precipitate

Experiment to make a soluble salts using an acid and an insoluble base

Heat the acid in water bath

add base to the acid they will react to produce soluble salt keep adding till all The acid has reacted

filter off excess solid to get only salt and water

heat solution gently and evaporate off some of the water

allow to cool and salt to crystallise

Experiment to make soluble salts using acid and alkali reactions

Measure out a set amount of acid into conical flask using Pipette

Add a few drops of indicator

slowly add alkali to acid until the acid is neutralise and indicators change colour

carryout reaction again using exactly the same volumes of alkali and acid with no indicator

the solution that remains will be salt and water
