What are some possible adverse reactions that may occur with macrolides?

-GI discomfort (nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain - clients can administer eryhromycin with meals if GI upset occurs)
-Hepatoxicity (abdominal pain, lethargy, jaundice) -Prolonged QT interval causing dysrhythmias and possible sudden cardiac death - clients who have dysrhythmias) -Clients who have a pre-existing liver disease should avoid taking erythromycin (macrolides) |
